Hello Everyone,
Growing up, I was so sure we had only two seasons in Nigeria – Rainy Season and Dry Season. These days, the weather is like magic. I mean, you where so sure it was raining a few minutes ago and now, the sun is burning down your back without respite. O ga. Eyin ara UK, happy hottest day! On this hot hot note, answer this: what are you using to protect yourself from the sun?
You need this trio: Sunscreen, Sunshades and Sun Hats! However, the focus today is on Sun Hats!
If you were at the Eat Drink Festival on Saturday, you will know that the sun did not come to play! I was more than glad that I had my floppy wide brim straw hat on.
Wearing a wide-brimmed hat outdoors is great way to protect your hair, eyes, and skin from the sun’s UV rays.
When you’re buying a sun/summer hat, it is important to look out for wide brim hats. Why? You need as much shade from the sun as you can get. Ensure you get an easy to clean hat, preferably straw, so there’s no fear of damaging it.
I got this straw hat from Yaba Market for N600. The last one I bought cost me N400 and it was duly obtained by my baby cousin. If you are familiar with Yaba Market and you know where the tailors are, the hat sellers are in the narrow aisle that leads to the stairs. Be ready to haggle, because they are so quick to call high prices and blame it on the dollar.
If you’re not big on the thrift, I gatchu. You can get wide brimmed straw hats from N1800 – N2,050 here, here, and here.
What else are you using to protect your skin from this sun?

I’m always looking for the right hat. My head/hair is always too big. I had one once that I found in Ghana, but only God knows where it is now. I just use my sunscreen and pray to God to be merciful.
