again and gain, Happy New Year!
It is 2017, can you believe it?! In my last post, I shared with you my personal theme for the year, which is “2017: My Year of Establishment. Preparation for Expansion” and a review of how the previous year was. Click here to read this post for more details.
One major key to ensuring this Establishment is to be honest about where I am and put in focus where I need to be so that I can eventually set tangible, trackable goals.
If there’s anything I want you to do this year, it is succeed. One of the gifts I received in 2015 was a phone session with Sisi on a Budget. I am Paying it Forward by sharing with you how you can take stock of who you are and prepare for 2017.
Before you begin this exercise, you need to be in a place of Love. Love yourself wholly. This is not the time for shoulda-woulda-couldas biko. Come ready to accept who you are and prepare for where you are going. Have an open mind and a willing heart.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, let’s get into it…
– Pick A Day/Time where you will work uninterrupted – Tomorrow is Saturday! What better time?
– The first approach is the “Who Do You Say You Are” approach. I have tested it on friends and family and it has been successful so far
As we go along, you will discover that I hold these words dear: “write the vision, make it plain…, read it… run with it”. So, get a notebook and a pen. Not on a device, you need the ink to flow.
A. Write down a list of all the roles you CURRENTLY play in life. Daughter. Lover. Doctor. Photographer. Teacher. Friend. Muslimah. Christian. Blogger. Vlogger. Online Coach. e.t.c.
When you are done, review to make sure no roles are duplicated.
B. Open another page and write out roles you desire to play.
E.g. – I want to be a Teacher, particularly for kids below 11. Someone needs to help them get it right from the beginning.
– I want to be a Public Speaker
C. Go back to the page with your CURRENT ROLES. Take each role and write at least 3 things you want to do better in each role this year. Remember to look out for things that will take you to your DESIRED ROLES
– Pray Better.
– Learn to listen to God.
– Love like God
– Get certified
– Diversify into Innovation and Strategy Management
– Deliver one signature project
D. For your DESIRED ROLES, write 3 things you can do this year to move you closer to those roles.
As you can see, we have not set goals yet. Right now, we are just surveying the field and putting our existing and future roles on paper.
This is just step 1. While you wait for step 2, keep thinking and dreaming about the things you do and the things you want to do. Write down everything you can think of.
You are Capable.
Love and Light,
You can read this post on Goals and Resolutions I wrote last year.
