How’s it going? How has 2017 been so far? If you participated in the goal-defining journey we had at the beginning of the year, raise ya hand! If not, you can still do it: just click here and make sure you start with this post!
It has been an intense first half for me, what about you? Here’s a short recap of my life in the first half of the year:
- did not get promoted as I had hoped
- got married to my fav – Husband Guy! – we were surrounded by love – friends, family and well wishers! Can’t get over it.
- took the first step towards achieving a big goal – lips sealed – not time for sunlight yet (keep reading to understand).
- hit a new level of low – re: confusion leading to depression
- lost weight, added weight, lost some more and added a lot more weight.
- my savings group is still going strong!
- my prayer life skyrocketed – Ma/Sir, marriage will make a prayer warrior out of you! HG wakes me up with prayer every morning
I am really grateful to God for the gifts I have received this year – yes, even pain is a gift. it does not seem like so when you are trudging through, but when you look back – issa blessing.
I’ll be guiding you through tried and tested activities to get the most of your Half Year Review. Let’s get into it:
- Write a Gratitude List
This is the most important thing in any life/goal review. No, do not start thinking it. Pick a pen and a notebook or if you have a device handy, start jotting it down. At the beginning of the page or the note, write…
“My name is _____________ and I am grateful for 2017. I am grateful for ________. I am not so grateful for how __________ turned out, it could have been better. I am grateful that I have life”
As you write, light begins to fill your heart as you begin to see things better.
- Review your Life Categories – to understand this better, click here
How well have you done so far? Your health? Your finances? Your spiritual life? What have you achieved? Where are the gaps? Again, do not do this in your head – write it down. Make it plain. Be honest with yourself.
- “Why am I here on earth? Do I know my Purpose?”
Don’t freeze up here. To be honest, I have not perfected this knowledge yet. However, I am the better for it because I tried something I had always known about – IKIGAI. Ikigai (生き甲斐) is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being”, just like the French Raison d’être. The Japanese believe that everyone has an ikigai. One of my favs Lavendaire, has an in-depth detailed video that speaks to this. Please click here to watch it.
IKIGAI = What do you love? (Passion) + what are you good at? (Vocation)+ what can you be paid for? (profession) + what (do you have that) the world needs? (mission)
Can you answer these questions honestly? Your ikigai is at the center of it all.
- What goals need to be adjusted?
With this new knowledge or journey to discovering your IKIGAI, are your goals still relevant? Based on all the changes that have occured, are your goals still relevant to you becoming your best self? Look at your vision board, does it still look like you? Be honest and give it a tweak.
- What can I do better?
Okay! You are here. This is your remedial plan for the rest of the year. Which categories need more effort? more time? Think of your life as a parcel of farm land and each category has its own patch. Are you planting the right seeds? Are you exposing your dreams/seeds to the light or are you hiding them? Are you carefully pulling out the weeds that are choking your seedlings? Are you watering your goals? I think of water as resources – time, finances e.t.c. So, answer these questions and honestly and I know we are definitely back on track!
This is the light I am leaving with you today:
My name is Vivian, which means that I am full of life (say yours), I manifest in the completeness of my name in this season. I believe that I can be all that I dream and more and I put my hands to work. It will only get better for me and there will be no loss. I blossom in every area of my life and I am able to see, to do and to be. I am blessed.
Positive affirmations spoken aloud (especially in front of a mirror) will make you come alive in the best of ways (trust me, I know). Stand straight, shoulders back and firm and declare positives into your life. I wish you a beautiful second half of the year 2017. May our endeavours be successful.
God bless you.
Love and Light,
