New Year: Goals vs Resolutions?

December 31, 2015

So, which camp do you belong to?

Goals or Resolutions or “you’re still the same person, nothing will change blah blah blah”

Whatever camp you belong to, do not belittle anyone’s efforts to ignite a change. Jus’ don’t.

New You? That's Fine

So, what do you really want to do in 2016?

goals for 2016(1)

If that’s your only goal… You’re alright. However, what is wealth without Happiness or Joy? What is Happiness/Joy without Love? Love here covers relationships of all kinds – family, partnerships, romance, friendships.

So, what are you doing for your loved ones in 2016?

Love Goals for 2016
Love Goals for 2016

I plan to love better this coming year. Oh, I have been blessed with beautiful friends who have become family. None of that guilt-trippin’ you-have-forgotten-about-me behaviour. We own our interactions (and lack of) and blame no one else.

Here are a few extra tips for your Goals/Resolutions in 2016.

  • Build a Vision Board
    • Lay all the areas of your life with targets before you (and before the Throne) in a way that you appreciate. Write the vision, make it plain!
      • If you appreciate words, write. Paste on a board and hang the board!
      • If you appreciate images, print-cut-paste these images on a board. Hang this board! Watch your greatness come together!
      • If you appreciate music, put together a Vision 2016 playlist (Ideas: Travie McCoy et BoB’s Billionaire  might be top of my list here)

  • Build relationships
    • I really want you to enjoy your new year and live your best life in the coming year. Whatever your goals are, I wish you the very best. I hope you find the iron(s) to sharpen your iron, establish stronger bonds and relationships and build beautiful and noteworthy friendships. Everyone talks about cutting people off but, what if you are the one that needs to be cut off?

Been Waiting For You

Uh Huh…

  • Build yourself
    • Spiritually – Believe. There is nothing as liberating as faith.
    • Physically – Will there really be a you without you? Take it one step at a time, one habit at a time. Drink more water. Eat better. Take supplements – vitamins. Walk. Run. Jump. Squat. Hit up this guy!
    • Mentally – Same as above – Will there really be a you without you? Cut off the things that weigh you down. This, i know, is easier said that done. Especially, here. It might be family, pressure, fear, anxiety. Get help. Talk to someone. Everyday, hack at that oak tree that seems to weigh you down daily. It. Will. Fall.
    • Financially – You need money. You need to build wealth. You need to bless. You need financial freedom. You can attain it. Remember that babe on Twitter that put N500 in a kolo (eh… piggy bank) everyday from early January? At the end of the year, you might be able to choose a better living environment, get yourself that new device that Apple is going to use to finish every other person’s money or add to your investments. Hit up this babe!
    • Add Exposure
      • Local – Pick an area in your state that you have never seen. Take a friend. Visit a state in your country that you have never been to. Do you know that we have beautiful sites and sights in Nigeria – Thank God for QC Geography Excursion and Acculturation that opened our eyes!
      • International – Cotonou gan is International Exposure. Open your eyes. See new things. Learn a new language. I gave tips on that here.
      • People – Meet new people that are not your…err… type. Interact with people of different tribes (not to fight abeg, to dialogue), religions, ethnicities, races, skin colour sef, even hair type… It makes you more understanding and it helps you build tolerance!

I hope with my few (over 600) words, I have been able to assure you that you can have the best of 2016.

Stay beautiful,

Happy New Year!

Taking Stock: Christmas Faves

December 24, 2015

CreatedOnCanvaAs long as there’s Christmas,
I truly believe…

Happy Birthday Jesus (in a bit) and Merry Christmas, everybodyyyyy!
Quick Random Fact: We have never cooked on Christmas day in my house. The amount of food that people bring to my parents can feed over 15-20 people with enough doggie leftovers. So, we end up eating and distributing the rest of the food gifts we receive…
Anyway, this is me counting all the little pleasures and blessings I have received over the years – here’s a list of my Christmas Faves!

Scripture: Isaiah 9:6

Culled From You Version

Movie: It is a tie (is it a tie when it’s a threeway?)  – Home Alone 1, 3 and Love Actually

Home Aloneculled from imdb

Carol: O Holy Night! BEST!

Song: As Long As There’s Christmas – as sung by Belle and Angelique in Beauty and the Beast:The Enchanted Christmas. Check it out here.

Meal: Chicken and Salad! Alwaysssss.

Activity: Candlelight Service at Church – retelling the story of the Saviour’s birth.

Wish: A last minute miracle for everyone!

Gift: Family. Every year, I remember that I am blessed with people (by blood, by The Blood and just bluhd!)

Event: Daystar Christmas Carol – Year in-year out, the healing streams continue to outdo themselves. I am really glad I was able to stream the event. It was a very Fuji Christmas. :)

Here’s a short list of things to do this Christmas, just for you…

  • Never attended a #ChristmasonTheStreetz but I think you should totally check this out. There’s nothing as beautiful as giving back. Meetup Point: Ozone. Bus takes you to Makoko. Dress Code: White Shirt and Jeans, for easy identification. For futher information, hit up @Ada_D_Body on Twitter. Just remember to take a gift (books, food items, pre-loved clothes, toys or brand new items)!
  • Also, do you know that Ron Kenoly is going to be at Covenant Christian Centre on Christmas day? Major awesomeness!

Christmas Covenant Centre

  • City FM’s Praise in The City is happening on the 26th of December. It looks like it’s going to be live.Praise In The City

Outfit: Comfy PJs and Socks on the 25th – because, I have to catch up on all my fav movies on my Mama’s bed.

What do you love most about Christmas?

Do you know any events happening in Lagos this holiday season?

Feel free to share using the comments section!

Cheers,

The Alaroro!
