Do you love yourself?
Do you love yourself?
How’s it going?
We are continuing with the #SeriesOf5s for the month of May and so far, we are going strong. Trust me, having a theme makes blogging wayyyy easier. So far, we have looked at 5 Expensive Things and their #Alaroro counterparts and 5 recommendations to help your focus at work and the previous post in honour of Mothers everywhere, 5 ways to show your Mama love this season.
Well, it is a Monday and everyone who is doing Monday definitely needs #MondayMotivation – I will be sharing my top 5 TED Talks that have provided inspiration for me in my life journey. Before we dive in, who is TED and what doess TED talk about = Well, TED is a media organization which posts talks online for free distribution, under the slogan “ideas worth spreading”. TED was founded in February 1984 as a conference, which has been held annually since 1990. TED Talks are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, tech and creativity. (as seen on Wikipedia)
It’s a new month and I am taking stock in a different way today.
If you follow either or both of us on any social media at all, you already heard the news: We got engaged!
Yasssss! Screams in laughter, happiness and joy!
Of course, I have to tell the story and I am excited to tell it here.
We’ve been dating since 2012. Yes, we met on Twitter. The meeting was even unconsciously engineered by Mallam Sawyerr, The Ghen Ghen and a (not so) bold DM. I mean, who tells a guy “I want to send you a DM, but I don’t know what to say”? Well, that would be me: Vivian.
Last week Thursday, I had been at home ‘cos I was ill and I got a call from Mallam Sawyerr… Family hangout? Let’s do Karaoke this Sunday. Of course! Why not? It did not occur to me to be suspicious until Wendy asked if I had been to her nail guy.
Fast forward to Sunday… After service, my mum was actively chasing me out of the house after service. I did not even eat! Hmph. With the rain and everything, I was so cranky and I almost cancelled. I just wanted to sleep. I did eat and sleep and… let’s just get to the point.
Karaoke was great! I mean, Wendy and I did Korede Bello and Tiwa’s Romantic + Beyonce’s Check On It – I just want to say that Beyonce is not anyone’s mate, please. That’s how we were trying to sing and ended up sounding like we were running a race. Pfft.
The song changed to: Let’s Get Married by Jagged Edge and I just knew: Issalova Jackie! I cried. I knelt down too. He gave me family, music and a full circle. I can’t get over it. I keep staring at my hand. I am overwhelmed with love.
Thank you to Femi, Wendy, Vic, Titi, Saks, David and Ayo for being a part of an amazing night. Thank you to the Lover for everything.
Bye Bye August,
Thanks for being dope!
Now, it’s time to plan an Alaroro wedding for an only child.
Can we do this?
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I had what I wanted to post today, I mean it’s love Sunday… The very tenets of love that I hold dear are found in 1 Corinthians 13. So, I was going to share my everyday interpretation of that scripture…
Then, I went to church…
I am so sure that when the MOG was preaching today, he was talking about Faith. Maybe it was the Valentine in the air that made me receive Love. Not sure, but there were a couple of scriptures that Pst. Poju O shared today that resonated with my belief about Love and I’m going to share them with us.
Turn with me to the 2nd book of Corinthians, the 8th Chapter. In this Chapter, Paul is talking about giving but I caught one kain sweet Rhema today that gave me a clear understanding of what love is. This is The Message (MSG) translation from verse 11:
Once the commitment is clear, you do what you can, not what you can’t.
The heart regulates the hands.
This isn’t so others can take it easy
while you sweat it out. No, you’re shoulder to shoulder with them all
the way, your surplus matching their deficit, their surplus matching
your deficit. In the end you come out even.
As it is written,
Nothing left over to the one with the most,
Nothing lacking to the one with the least.
So, this is what love looks like. Partnership. The melding of gifts to minister to God, one another and others. It is work, yes. Fulfilling work. I think my favourite part of this scripture is:
your surplus matching their deficit, their surplus matching your deficit.
I have re-read this scripture a number of times today and my take on love, where there is a clear commitment, has changed. I want to explain it but I am not yet sure how I should. I really want you to read and re-read this scripture and share your interpretation with me.
I have a question. I’d really love it if we could share our answers in the comments section below.
Yesterday, we talked about what we earning-saving-investing-spending folk can do
So, let’s say we’ve been too busy to eat in, and our days have been made of Cold Rice and Beans from Chicken Republic… It’s Valentine’s Day… Let’s do something different.

I love LOVE. No, really. The expression of it, the highs and lows of totally giving of yourself to others… Love is a beautiful thing (
It’s Don Jazzy Again!)
Today, we will be talking about love songs! Thanks Berry Dakara for the berry awesome tip.
In no particular order, here are my songs for the season! Make sure you share yours with me in the comment section…
I love this one too! Especially, the Pentatonix Cover – It makes me feel really giddy! I just want to pull out my pop-poms and cheer the lover’s name to the world! *wink*
*sniffs* I don’t want to talk about this song.
I know this is a gospel song and I am sure that it is okay to share this with your loved ones. xoxo.
This is my love jam!
I know this is a shortlist of the thousands of love songs I love. Will you share with me what your favourite love songs are?
